EMPLOYEE OWNER POSITION PURPOSE:

As our Division Senior Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for high volume monthly account processing that impacts our Association and Homeowner clients. You are the chief support for the Division Controller and our “go-to” person for status updates. A key area of focus is being able to connect the dots and see when things are headed down the right path, or when they need some course-correction. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process monthly transactions, including but not limited to: homeowner assessment billing, late fees, interest delinquencies, and miscellaneous accounts receivable transactions
  • Provide training on accounting software, Excel, accounting principles, tips and tricks – anything and everything to support and help your team members thrive
  • Be the primary point of contact for initiating monthly and quarterly statement processing
  • Act as a back-up for processing ACH drafts, internal/external bank transfers, and in-house deposits
  • Prepare month-end closing entries across multiple accounting systems
  • Manage all tax payments and filings prepared by external auditors
  • Track, follow-up, and prepare communications to team members regarding annual tax and audit status for all Division associations
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties required to drive consistent implementation of best practices
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Coordinate state, local, and federal regulatory filings
  • Prepare budget workbooks to support Community Management and Financial Reporting teams.
  • Prepare corporate billings for ad hoc services as needed
  • Work closely with Community Association Managers to assist in solving issues regarding Homeowner accounts, accounting issues, and process implementation
  • Partner with the Corporate Accounting team to assist in resolving monthly financial reconciliation issues
  • Reconcile clearing account to ensure all entries are posted correctly
  • Prioritize and juggle multiple projects at once, particularly during month and year-end
  • Interface with internal and external clients in a proactive approach (what we call Leadership Management)
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or the equivalent of 3 years of Accounting experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced deadline environment while managing multiple-tasks
  • Strong MS Office skills (advanced Excel), paired with comfort quickly mastering new software programs
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ultimate professionalism, interpersonal, customer service, and team work skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and partner with internal and external clients of all levels
  • Comfortably work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of work product

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Use standard office equipment, including: computer, phone, copier/scanner, etc.
  • Be stationary for periods of time
  • Relocate up to (25) pounds

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL:

  • Monday-Friday from approx. 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  • This position may require occasional long hours to meet business needs
