The Food Runner at The Manchester Hotel’s primary responsibilities include delivering food to restaurant patrons, taking orders, and delivering food to our hotel guests for room service. The Food Runner may also perform other essential duties as required. This position reports to the Restaurant Manager on duty.
Responsibilities:
- Understands role within the steps of service.
- Promptly and courteously answering the phone for in-room dining service.
- Recording and entering in-room dining orders from guests into the POS system.
- Setting up trays for in-room dining service and delivering food to hotel guests.
- Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.
- Delivers food from kitchen to dining room tables promptly and accurately.
- Assists server with tables, service station, and coffee station preparation.
- Assists servers and bussers with table clearing and side work.
- Communications between the kitchen and servers regarding the status of each table and food delivery.
- Assists supervisor and executes any tasks as assigned.
- When possible, assists the chef and executes any tasks as assigned.
- Polishes silverware.
- Completes all side work as outlined in the manual.
- Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
- Maintains a clean, orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
- Follow all proper sanitation guidelines.
- Exhibits strong food knowledge and knows menu descriptions for bar and dining room.
- Assists with setting up the expo station and kitchen pass (plateware, garnish, to-go supplies)
- Assists with helping maintain the flow of service, reporting back to the chef on the status of tables and fire times
Qualifications:
- Able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends).
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
- Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read and understand English.
- Clean and professional appearance.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
