As the Commodity Manager you will work autonomously to communicate and manage the timely arrival of purchased material with an integrated supply base as well as internal departments to ensure proper inventory levels are achieved to support 100% OTIF. You will be responsible for obtaining the most cost-effective arrangements for products/services using market research and negotiation skills, supplier selection and supplier performance monitoring. This position reports to the Sr Commodity Manager located in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania.

Major Responsibility
- Identify and engage with suppliers not performing to standards, and failing to meet contractual obligations
- Conduct on-site visits to assess supplier operations, identify root causes of issues, and develop action plans to address deficiencies.
- Create and manage supplier purchasing agreements.
- Identify cost savings opportunities and resource suppliers within existing supply base.
- Manage purchasing projects to improve departmental cost, delivery, and quality.
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective actions, including process improvements, quality enhancements, and timeline adjustments.
- Perform cost saving analysis with PTCO database, Update shortage graphs, and delivery trends
- Work independently or with Engineering in implementing cost saving initiatives.
- Follow up with suppliers on quotes past the target date; review supplier quotes for completeness and compliance; advise of lead times, mins, and lot sizes to load ERP system.
- Resolve invoice pricing issues and work with suppliers to get request for proposal returned by target dates.
- Directs and coordinates all aspects of project management to ensure project progresses within scope, on schedule, within budget and per the goals defined.
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities to improve overall cost of product.
- Report progress to management and stakeholders
- Review and evaluate supplier performance in terms of price, on time delivery, lead time and quality.
- Maintain/manage current suppliers & supply base; identify new supply base when needed, both domestic and internationally.
- Will be responsible for project coordination, establishing and maintaining timelines within the supply base.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be knowledgeable in use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Access, Excel and Outlook
- Experience in an ERP system (Baan) Purchasing, MRP planning & Inventory; EPMX quote system, Lotus Notes
- Strong communication skills for internal/external customers
- Ability to interpret technical data (i.e. Material specifications, drawings, blueprints, engineering details, etc.).
- Strong background in high strength steel and welding.
- Preferred - Bi-lingual in Spanish and English - Not required

Required Education and Experience:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Materials/Purchasing or Engineering/Supply Chain.
- 3 to 5 years experience in supply chain or business equivalent in purchasing environment.
- In lieu of education 7 years of experience in supply chain or purchasing environment will be accepted.
- Must have experience in internal and external negotiations.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Accreditation in ISM or APICS certifications
- Experience in manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to travel up to 50% predominantly between Monterrey, Torreon, and Shady Grove PA.

- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by Company Policy for the job being performed both in the facility and during customer visits.
