Pastry & Prepared Foods Cook

We are hiring an experienced, friendly and reliable pastry & prepared foods cook at our Brooklyn Navy Yard storefront. We are looking for someone with solid foundational pastry techniques, with experience in a pastry production job. This role is also responsible for preparation and assembly of cafe counter items such as sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. There are naturally leavened bread & sweet dough items (brioche, panettone) on this menu, but we will teach you how to do this! This is a unique opportunity for a high performing pastry cook to learn about bread making, as well as foundational cooking skills. We are looking for someone reliable and highly motivated who can do a lot in a day. This is a full time, 40 hour per week position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Preparation and assembly of cafe counter items, such as sandwiches, soups, salads, dips, etc.
• Pastry production and bake off
• Mixing, shaping and baking bread items such as focaccia, brioche, panettone (seasonal)
• Adhere to all policies outlined in the Marlow Collective Handbook.
• Attend all anti-discrimination, sexual harassment, etc. training as instructed by the Marlow Collective.
• Contribute to a highly cooperative and positive work environment, supporting others in successes and setbacks

While performing the duties of the job, a pastry & prepared foods cook is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The Marlow Collective wage band for this position is set at $18.50- $22.50

Starting rate of pay is $19/hr or $20/hr depending on experience.

After a 90-day introductory period, all employees receive a review of their performance and pay.
