JOB SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Housekeeping Manager in planning, organizing, and developing of the overall operation of the housekeeping department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and guidelines along with assuring the highest degree of quality guest care is maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect the daily activities of the housekeeping employees, including appropriate cleaning of all suites, hallways, stairwells, offices, seating areas, restrooms, gym, lunchroom and all public spaces.
- Planning, organizing and directing team members to ensure the highest degree of guest satisfaction. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct.
- Daily supervision of the housekeeping staff, including the day and night shifts.
- Determines and maintains the department work schedule and ensure proper preparation and staffing.
- Reviews daily occupancy level to ensure that guest rooms are cleaned and available by required check-in.
- Creates the detail worksheet that divides up the suites between room attendants.
- Implement control on department labor costs. Minimize costs while ensuring adequate staffing is available to provide The Marmara service standards.
- Assists Housekeeping Manager in preparation of the annual budget and monitors, manages and report status of expenses, inventory and labor as outlined in the budget forecasts. Maintains housekeeping supplies and inventory.
- Prepares purchase orders for Housekeeping Manager’s approval for all cleaning supplies and equipment and determine replacement according to usage and budget.
- Assist in conducting monthly inventory, maintaining pars and control of all housekeeping equipment.
- Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment; makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.
- Monitor progress, ensure completion of general cleaning program and assign tasks to housekeeping employees.
- Maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program e.g. mattress flipping, floor care, general cleaning and a checklist to go with it.
- Responds to guest questions and provides guest assistance, direction and information as requested.
- Manages the team of housekeeping employees through motivation, coaching and development.
- Assist in training new employees and continuation of learning for existing employees.
- Oversees lost and found and proper recording in Opera, storage and communication to various departments.
- Attends necessary meetings, both departmentally and inter-departmentally to ensure proper communication is fostered to ultimately benefit the operation and service of the hotel.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
- Maintain a professional courteous manner with all guests, residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
- Abide by all policies and procedures at the hotel.
- Effectively communicate with other departments and employees at all times.
- Be able to work flexible schedules to meet the business demands.
- Participate in Departmental Communications meetings and trainings.
- Complete all administrative duties such as creating, maintaining and updating records.
- Report any unusual occurrences immediately to security and Chief Engineer.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest and associates information and pertinent hotel data.
- Complete other administrative tasks in the department such as, organizing the work area, sorting relevant mails, scanning and making copies of paperwork and filing appropriately and ensuring correct record keeping.
- Complete any special projects as assigned and be sure to meet due dates.
- Any other duties as given by the General Manager.
Requirements:
- Must be able to work on weekends.
- Must be able to open and close shifts.
- Must have prior hotel housekeeping experience.
- Must have experience using Opera PMS.
- Strong housekeeping background is required.
