Job Title: Area Sales Manager (Mid-Atlantic Region)
Location: North Carolina or Virginia (Location flexible within the specified region)
Territory: Mid-Atlantic (North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and part of Tennessee)
Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 (dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications)
Bonus Opportunity: Up to 50% of base salary
Travel Requirement: 60-75% travel within assigned territory
Position Overview:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will play a key role in driving sales growth and customer satisfaction within the Mid Atlantic territory. This position involves planning, executing, and managing all sales activities, including customer acquisition, product promotion, training, and competitor analysis. The ASM will work closely with sales management to develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue and market penetration. This role offers a high level of autonomy and requires significant travel throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Leadership & Execution:
- Plan and execute targeted sales trips to engage new and existing customers across the territory, ensuring face-to-face meetings at least once every 12 weeks.
- Develop, present, and execute strategic sales plans in alignment with company goals, identifying new opportunities and optimizing existing relationships.
- Lead Generation & Market Development:
- Conduct market research to generate qualified leads and stay informed on customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline and track opportunities using Salesforce.
- Customer Engagement & Training:
- Provide exceptional customer service through regular communication, addressing inquiries, and resolving concerns efficiently (phone, email, text, in-person).
- Deliver product presentations and conduct hands-on training sessions to customers as required.
- Assist in product inspections and ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining high service standards.
- Sales Operations & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate tracking of sales activities and maintain an updated sales database via Salesforce.
- Follow up diligently on quotes and sales leads to drive closure.
- Regularly report on sales performance and market intelligence to management.
- Networking & Representation:
- Represent the company at regional and national trade shows and customer events.
- Attend industry events to expand professional networks and promote company products.
- Collaboration & Negotiation:
- Collaborate with distributor sales teams, offering support as needed, and building strong relationships.
- Negotiate terms and close deals with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
Requirements:
- Experience & Education:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B sales or an equivalent role, with a proven track record of success.
- Knowledge of millwork distribution channels is preferred but not required.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) including Ponderosa.
- A solid understanding of business math and general sales principles.
- Ability to develop persuasive sales strategies and deliver effective presentations.
- Additional Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated with excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively (60%-75% ) travel required within the territory).
- Ability to stay updated on building codes and regulations within the territory.
