Position Objective
The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always home to 68 residents. The Staff Development Nurse is assistant to required educational training for MCC staff and the assist with mentoring newly hired nurses and RCT's. The Staff Development Nurse will assist in supporting The Center's health care team in their goals of achieving a truly homelike environment in which MCC residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Staff Development Nurse must be a positive role model who works effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of The Center.
Minimum Requirements
The Staff Development Nurse at the Mary Campbell Center must 1) be a good person of high character who demonstrates compassion and understanding, consistently works with a positive attitude and advocates effectively on behalf of residents who have varying degrees of disabilities, and 2) be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current R.N. license in State of Delaware; have two to five years acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation experience; two to five years supervisory and/or teaching experience(preferred),and be CPR certified. The Staff Development Nurse must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills; have proficiency utilizing technology tools to effectively manage resident health reporting and to achieve individual, department and mission goals. Must have successfully demonstrated assessment, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Essential Functions
- Makes rounds through the facility daily.
- Works closely with the Healthcare Leadership Team. Supports new employee orientation and mentoring of newly hired nurses for required and incidental training for nurses and RCTs.
- Supports in infection prevention and evaluation process of best practice for staff as directed by Infection Preventionist.
- Collaborates with the ADON and/or Staff Scheduler to coordinate the assignment of new orientees with mentors and follow-up as needed for trainings.
- Assist with maintaining the mentor program.
- Implementing Nursing Standards Curriculum for nurse training ensuring consistency across all nurses.
- Coordinate required instructional training to all staff in areas of CPR, Blood-Borne Pathogens, Infection Prevention and Control Procedures, Resident Rights, Abuse, Neglect, Mistreatment, Financial Exploitation, HIPAA, Fire Safety, Emergency Operations Plans and drills, etc.
- Coordinate follow-up training in the basic use of the Electronic Medical Records, DHIN, Relias, Elsevier, and On-Shift.
- Works in collaboration with the Infection Preventionist to monitor, prevent, identify, report, investigate, and control infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual agreement.
- Maintain inventory of slings for mechanical lifts.
- Serves in an on-call capacity for Health Care needs or emergencies.
- Completes all mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
