The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Capital Planning and Development Division is seeking a highly skilled and organized Administrative Assistant.
III. Technical support work performed to control, review and process a variety of materials and documents in one or more administrative management areas; such as correspondence, finance, contracting, purchasing, and human resources support. Responsibilities consist of collecting, compiling, preparing, and processing data, reporting data or transactions, and performing other types of business processing. Incumbents are tasked with ensuring accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and procedural compliance of a range of technical support work.
Examples of Important Duties
- Assists with the review and/or preparation of all correspondence for the Office Supervisor and/or Division Chief's signatures.

Financial Practices: Prepares, monitors, and audits purchasing records
including but not limited to the creation of purchase orders, purchase card requests, invoice processing and management, requisition creation, and processing payment applications. - Administrative Support: Assists in preparing a variety of technical and administrative correspondence, reports, and statistical documents, including coordinating, and editing input from professional and managerial staff; Provides technical assistance to professional, technical, or supervisory staff; Provides administrative assistance for various programmatic activities; Serves as liaison to coordinate technical and administrative functions for the division or section.
- HR Support: Assists with coordinating interviews, onboarding, staff evaluations, and termination requests.
- Receives, opens, and screens mail and emails. Reviews personnel actions, correspondence, and financial documents for accuracy. initiates corrective action when necessary and maintains an accurate updated log. Meets all deadlines associated with preparing or coordinating correspondence, personnel actions, logs, and reports.
- Provides general administrative support such as booking conference rooms, supporting meetings, and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
- Serves as custodian of petty cash for the Division.
- Fleet management of assigned and pool vehicles including asset management, maintenance reminders, and mileage log tracking.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
2. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience that includes at least two (2) years in administrative and clerical support work and at least one (1) year of technical support experience in the administrative management areas of the specific position to be filled.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 4 years.
