Description
The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, a six-time Gold Medal award winning agency, is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, self-motivated IT/Telecom Support Specialist II to join the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division. The ITS Division is committed to partnering with staff and citizens to provide professional, innovative, reliable and secure technology services in support of a comprehensive parks and recreation program.
As an IT/Telecom Support Specialist II on the Applications Team, your work will be a key component in assisting the group’s support of IT programs, systems, internal and external users. Focusing on systems and application administration including but not limited to Microsoft Azure, O365 and Service Now. Employee performs other duties as assigned.
Examples of Important Duties
- Administration of O365 and Azure systems including:
- Teams
- SharePoint
- Exchange
- Intune
- Entra account management, licensing, and SSO
- Application deployment and patching
- Enterprise application support
- Acts as a point of escalation, Tier II support, for service desk tickets
- Supports PC, Mac, iOS, and Android platforms
- Collaborates with supervisors, staff, vendors, and others to achieve program goals
- Implementing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow and SharePoint solutions in an IT environment
- Customizing workflows, scripts, business rules, UI policies, and notifications within the ServiceNow platform to meet operational requirements
- Tests new solutions, participates in user acceptance testing (UAT), and supports deployment
- Works closely with IT staff and stakeholders to understand technical needs, gather requirements, and develop tailored solutions for internal and external customers
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for configurations, customizations, and system integration
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or any related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in information technology support functions.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together when total five (5) years.
- Depending upon area of assignment, a valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.
- Pass Commission medical examination.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL certification or demonstrated experience
- 2 years of experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITAM, ITOM configuration and administration
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Microsoft Azure-related certifications
- Service Now related certifications

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office setting and remote sites. Work involves walking, standing, bending, crouching, and may carry equipment and supplies up to 49 pounds. Work must be performed accurately and may require occasional overtime, after-hours, weekend or on-call work.
