Description
Brookside Gardens, a 50-acre public display garden in Wheaton, MD seeks a year-round, part-time cashier to join the gift shop staff team for the fall and winter holiday season. Applicants must be strong in customer service and enjoy working with the public.
Gift Shop hours are from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Shift will be primarily during these hours, but may switch to evenings during the Garden of Lights show in November and December.
Examples of Important Duties
Examples of important duties:
Greets visitors. Answers questions and ring up purchases.
Provides support to Manager and assists independently in operation of shops.
Keeps shop clean and well merchandised and restocked.
Cares for plant stock.
Important Skills and Characteristics:
Candidates must be able to work day shifts.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with community members and co-workers.
Comfortable engaging with the public in formal and informal settings.
Proficiently operates POS software system.
Detail oriented, creative, and careful with inventory

Working conditions:
Primarily works inside. Must be able to bend, lift up to 30 pounds. Able to work independently.
