What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skate Guards - Seasonal position at The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission?
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Parks and Recreation, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division is seeking Skate Guards for the Tucker Road Ice Rink located at 1770 Tucker Road in Fort Washington and the Herbert Wells Ice Rick located at 5211 Campus Drive in College Park. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring the ice during public skating sessions along with working the skate rental counter. The schedule will be days, evenings and weekends. The salary range will be $15.00/hour - $15.52/hour dependent on experience, qualifications, and certifications. |
- Responsible for the monitoring the ice during public skating sessions.
- Responsible for patrons safety while skating on the rink.
- Responsible for distributing and the return of facility rental skates.
- Responsible for sharpening facility rental and customer skates (training provided).
- Provide assistance to guests.
- Performs routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, emptying trash cans etc.
- Communicate with supervisor and other staff members any concerns and/or needs of the building and its equipment.
- Understand the operation of the facility scoreboard (training provided).
- Have knowledge of ice facilities and have the ability to skate.
- Have the ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility.
- Must be physically strong enough to lift and move heavy objects, such as hockey nets.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
A criminal background check will be completed prior to hire.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
