Job Description
Masakhane Center is seeking passionate, motivated people to join our education team! Interns work in and around the Newark, NJ community providing sex positive education to young people in schools and youth organizations. Sexuality Educators receive extensive training on a variety of sexuality topics and workshop facilitation techniques. While this internship position is unpaid, all educators are given real world, hands-on experience in the non-profit world and sexuality education field.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate sexuality workshops at local schools and community-based organizations.
- Work with youth to create tailor-made sexuality education workshops for their programs.
- Create and execute a significant project that utilizes current skills and interests, and are in line with Masakhane’s needs.
- Assist with social media planning and daily posting.
- Assist at conferences and health fairs, as needed.
- Assist in the occasional planning and execution of special events.
SCHOOL YEAR 2019 – 2020 INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE
School year interns commit to working from September to May, providing sex positive education and working on one long term sustainable project. The first month of the internship includes extensive training on a variety of sexuality education topics, workshop planning, program development and public speaking.

- 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
FALL 2019 INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE
Fall interns can choose from one of the following schedules. The first month of the internship includes extensive training on a variety of sexuality education topics, workshop planning and public speaking.

- Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
- 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
B Schedule
- September 10, 2019 – December 19, 2019
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
- 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm
SPRING 2020 INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE
Spring interns can choose from one of the following schedules. The first month of the internship includes extensive training on a variety of sexuality education topics, workshop planning and public speaking.

Qualifications
WE ARE SEEKING PEOPLE WHO CAN…
- Advocate for sex positive education and racial and reproductive justice.
- Advocate for the rights of people marginalized for their orientations, gender alignments and/or expressions.
- Travel throughout Newark. Current and former Newark residents preferred.
- Manage their time well.
- Be responsible and reliable.
- Demonstrate creativity.
- Work within a team and independently.
