What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Food Plant Specialist - 2nd Shift position at The Masterson Company, Inc.?
2nd Shift is from approximately 2pm-10pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the quality testing and documentation of shift employees primarily from the Production department. Acts as a resource when quality, food safety or processing issues are encountered and follows through to resolution. Help fix in-process issues or make a determination for product to be put on quality hold.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as brix, pH, color, viscosity, and temperature. Records test data.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Supports production on product test runs.
- Makes recommendations to QA management for modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Reviews existing formulas and makes recommendations to the processing procedure and specifications based on actual plant runs.
- Calibrates lab testing equipment as required.
- Assists Quality Plant Supervisor with providing training to shift personnel on testing and documentation procedures.
- Adheres to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, Food Safety, and Standardized Work procedures.
- All other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in food sciences, microbiology, or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years experience in Quality Technician or related manufacturing quality position required.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and risk analysis. Ability to identify trends and patterns.
- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions based on common sense and technical expertise. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and product samples quality results.
