THE ROLE
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at The MC Hotel. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing scratch-made dishes and recipes. As a key member of our culinary leadership team, you’ll help drive the success of our kitchen, fostering creativity and precision.
We’re looking for an individual who is dedicated to perfecting their craft and possesses a solid foundation in culinary techniques. You should be task-oriented, detail-driven, and comfortable working collaboratively with fellow team members and under the guidance of the Chef. How You Lead:
- Provide hands-on leadership for the culinary team through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to foster both individual and collective growth.
- Work closely with various hotel departments, including Sales, Banquets & Catering, Food & Beverage, and Hotel Operations, to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Model professionalism and respect in your interactions with managers, team members, and peers, contributing positively to the hotel culture.
- Be a culinary expert with in-depth knowledge of the cuisine aligned with the hotel’s food and beverage concept, guiding your team with patience and encouragement.
- Begin developing your business acumen by ensuring operational initiatives are in line with budgetary goals, and continue to grow in this area.
What You Will Need:
- 3 years of progressive culinary experience, ideally in a multi-service hotel or fine dining restaurant.
- A passion for the culinary arts and experience across a wide range of cuisines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for creating reports and managing spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to engage with staff at all levels of the hotel.
- Ability to perform basic math for recipe adjustments and inventory management.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment, maintaining quality and efficiency under pressure.
- Physical ability to lift, balance, and carry up to 25 lbs. (and up to 100 lbs. with assistance) when handling inventory and equipment.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods, and endure warm to hot environments while using kitchen equipment such as ovens and fryers.
