Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Middle School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher. The goal of this position is to provide students with the opportunity to begin the development of lifelong skills that will aid in decision making, problem solving, and independence. Students will apply academic skills and express themselves with originality and creativity.
The ideal candidate will :
- Teach students about making, achieving, and evaluating goals
- Help students adjust to middle school life and prepare for high school and college
- Educate students about relationships and values
- Instruct students in kitchen basics, including sanitation, safety, measurement, and cooking
- Provide the opportunity for students to master basic hand sewing
- Educate students about child development and care
- Teach sewing machine operation and provide the opportunity for students to master basic sewing projects
- Instruct students on clothing care, such as laundry and ironing
- Teach basic consumer skills
