About the Role
The Meadowbrook School of Weston invites applications for the position of Controller. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the Business Office, responsible for the management and accuracy of the school's financial records.
We are seeking a highly skilled Controller who can effectively balance technical accounting tasks with strategic process design, creating operational excellence. Experience implementing new accounting systems is beneficial.
This role involves collaboration across all departments and effective management of day-to-day operations, including supervision of the Staff Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for all accounting and financial functions, promoting a service-oriented environment, providing training, direction, motivation, and opportunities for skills development
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting procedures and standards in accordance with GAAP and FASB
- Coordinate the annual financial and 403(b) audits, preparation of reports and reconciliations, drafting financial statements, and assisting auditors as needed
- Prepare monthly financial statements with budget/forecast variance analysis, cash flow analysis, investments accounting and analysis, fundraising accounting and analysis, and other financial statistical reporting
- Supervise and assist Staff Accountant with student billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA license and/or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with demonstrated track record of progressive responsibility including supervising a team
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
