Position Title: Restaurant Server
Position Summary: The Restaurant Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring they have a positive and memorable dining experience. Servers are expected to interact with guests in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, ensuring all needs are met. The role involves attentiveness to guest comfort and satisfaction, and servers are expected to demonstrate basic cooking knowledge to assist customers with menu choices.
Experience, Education, and Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous dining server experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Food Handler Certification and Alcohol Server Certification required.
- Fluency in English with the ability to write in basic English.
Essential Responsibilities:
Table Preparation & Service:
- Prepare dining tables, including setting napkins, utensils, and ensuring condiments are replenished.
- Stay informed about menu options, daily specials, and any menu changes or ingredient shortages.
- Handle table bookings, greet and escort guests to their tables, and present menus.
- Suggest menu items and assist with drink selections based on guest preferences.
- Communicate customer-specific needs to the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth dining experience.
- Maintain proper dining etiquette, including delivering food and beverages, offering desserts, and replenishing utensils or drinks.
Food and Beverage Service:
- Prepare mixed drinks and serve them to customers at their tables.
- Open and pour wine tableside, adhering to proper service procedures.
- Process guest payments, issue receipts, and return change when necessary.
General Duties:
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as directed by the supervisor.
- Assist with special events and fill in for absent staff as needed.
- Greet guests and owners warmly with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
- Consistently adhere to grooming and appearance standards.
- Understand and communicate available products and services at the restaurant and related facilities (e.g., Golf Course or resort).
Cooking Knowledge:
- Basic cooking knowledge is required to assist guests with menu selections and understand food preparation.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to speak and hear clearly.
- Close and distance vision required.
- Frequent walking, standing, and bending.
- Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs regularly, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills, with frequent fine motor skills required.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, and reach hands and arms in any direction as needed.
Typical Working Conditions:
- The position may require both indoor and outdoor work, depending on the setting.
- Employees should be prepared for varying weather conditions.
- Schedule flexibility is required, including evenings, holidays, and extended hours as needed by the business.
