Shift: 12:00a-8:00a M-F
Key Functions
1. Provide oversight in delivery of nursing care on the assigned shift
- Conduct rounds on every unit to assess, report and correct threats to safety; and ensures a work climate that encourages positive nursing staff morale, motivation and commitment
- Role model effective interdisciplinary collaboration
- Provide effective mentorship and supervision of assigned staff
- Leads response to any facility-related crisis
- Ensure effective orientation and staff development activities
- Daily staffing pattern matches hospital operational plan
- Ensures units are adequately and appropriately staffed
2. Exhibit leadership in professional practice
- Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning
- Maintain active participation in professional organization
- Ensure current clinical knowledge and application to patient care
- Interprets unit acuity and adjusts patient care and staffing as needed; utilizes staffing advisory committee as guide
- Ensures effective written and verbal communication
- Incorporates evidence-based practice approach to patient care
- Ensures utilization of informatics for information management and technology
3. Supports organizational goals and interdepartmental operations
- Relationship management
- Collaborates with clinical leaders to ensure continuity of patient care
- Leads quality and safety initiatives for the department and the organization
- Provides coverage for peers to meet the organizational needs
- Complete other nursing duties and projects as assigned
- Role models, professionalism, and demonstrates ownership of the House Supervisor duties
Education Required: Completion of a NLN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
Preferred : Master’s Degree
License/Certification Required: Current license to practice as RN in State of Texas;
Preferred: Certification as a Nurse Executive or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse.
Experience: Three years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Prior experience in a managerial role such as charge nurse or supervisor.
Preferred: ANCC Credentials
