PT Seasonal Homeless Shelter Support Specialist

Overview

As a Homeless Support Specialist, you will have a vital role on our interdisciplinary team. You will work alongside our Operations Manager and Volunteers to accommodate individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness, providing trauma-informed care and services in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner.

This position provides the unique opportunity to work on the front lines of an innovative, grassroots organization working to bridge serious gaps in our community’s social service structure.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to provide shelter services in a manner that is welcoming and appropriate to the special needs of those affected by homelessness, trauma, and severe mental illness.

• Work to build an environment that is supportive and conducive to growth and recovery.

• Ensure the building is set-up properly for guests to eat meals, have coffee, visit service providers, and sleep.

• Build compassionate relationships with guests while providing care, coaching, assistance, and direct services.

• Oversee outreach sheets, ensuring they are updated regularly and accurately. Identify guests who have not been reached and identify obstacles to guests’ needs being addressed and met.

• Make efforts to circumvent obstacles that have been identified in individual guests that hinder their ability to form relationships and utilize services; reach out to designated individuals and agencies for support and assistance when needed.

• Stay accessible and visible to staff and guests during your shift.

This is a seasonal role ( April 30th end) with non-traditional work hours, including weekends and holidays. Shifts are from 5:30PM - 1:30AM and 1AM - 9AM. Staff must be willing to work either shift.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
