Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering - Closures Structures professional to join our team in Michigan. This role involves the design and development of automotive closures hardware and mechanisms, including side door window regulators, handles, latches, power actuators, and charge port mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive closures and a proven track record of successful system-level integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automotive closures hardware and mechanisms from concept to production.
- Optimize designs for performance, size, weight, durability, and cost.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to integrate systems efficiently.
- Work with various stakeholders (Vehicle Safety, NVH, Manufacturing) to create world-class designs.
- Use CAE analysis results to guide design evolution.
- Ensure efficient manufacturing processes and build quality.
- Coordinate testing plans and physical tests to validate designs.
- Perform detailed analysis of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Manage virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities.
- Communicate with interfacing suppliers.
- Provide direction and negotiate balanced solutions.
- Determine required tolerances using GD&T.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in automotive closures hardware and mechanisms.
- Proven system-level integration skills.
- Experience with Class A surface data and 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6 preferred).
- Hands-on experience in prototype and production assembly.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in design release engineering and project management.
- Knowledge of analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, OptiStruct, MatLab).
- Experience in full life cycle development from concept to production.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, die casting).
Education:
• • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent closures automotive experience.
