Job Title: Director of Fundraising Operations
Position Summary:
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Director of Fundraising Operations position. Reporting to the VP, Head of Growth & Enablement, this position will oversee three pillars of work: Technology & Tools, Portfolio Services, and Operational Strategy. This role leads a growing and talented team and partners within the Fundraising Strategy & Operations department. This position partners with fundraisers to build operational support for a multi-billion-dollar comprehensive campaign.
This is a hybrid-flex position that will require in-person attendance on a semi-regular basis at MJFF’s office in New York City.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the fundraising operations group in providing consistent, high-quality operational support to fundraisers and strategists across Development
- Set core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the fundraising operations group, reporting quarterly and optimizing the team to support continuous improvement
- Develop and implement tools, processes and projects that streamline and enhance Principal, Major, Corporate, Planned and Annual portfolio operations
- Partner with the Director of Donor Relations to build an internal tracking system for proposals, restricted gifts, multi-year asks and gift agreements to be monitored by Research and Development leadership
- Enhance and oversee the donor pipeline infrastructure, collaborating with core stakeholders on needs and dependencies from prospecting, analytics, and fundraising
- Audit and improve special events operations, from registration to post-event reporting
- Partner with leadership on Development and Technology to align on enterprise infrastructure updates to support the fundraising team
- Oversee a growing team of operations professionals and drive a high-impact culture
- Partner with the Director of Prospect & Research Development to augment existing operations infrastructure to track prospective donors via moves management
- Implement standardized tools, processes and support for donor portfolio hygiene; partner with Development leaders to implement standardized and scalable solutions for each bespoke portfolio
- Partner with the fundraising analytics and CRM teams to improve tracking and attribution modeling for fundraising campaigns
- Oversee and update regular training for frontline fundraisers to increase adoption of SalesForce, Classy, and other fundraising tools
- Partner with the Growth team to enhance standard operating procedures and resources for centralized knowledge management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant experience overseeing nonprofit fundraising operations
- Relevant experience overseeing fundraising technology, tools, or products
- Relevant experience managing donor portfolio operations; experience with Major, Principal Giving Operations is a must
- Relevant experience leading a large team, coaching and cultivating talent
- Ability to increase efficiencies and identify gaps in operational processes
- Understanding of donor lifecycle, moves management, fundraising strategies, and core principles
- Understanding of gift administration, processing and coding
- Experience overseeing fundraiser uptake of CRM, Salesforce preferred
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; diplomatic and able to be solutions-oriented in complex environments
- Experience creating a psychologically safe environment for team members
- Comfort asking questions to people, no matter their title
- Thorough, and a willingness to learn and collaborate across expertise
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
