What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Benefits Specialist position at The Midland Group?
This is a full-time opportunity to work with a local healthcare facility in Topeka, Kansas assisting with public benefit applications. This position will require performing advocacy work, gathering confidential and financial information from patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid and other public assistance programs. This position will collaborate and communicate with hospital staff, public services agencies and other medical providers. We will provide training for the right candidate.

- Ability to work independently
- Have an appreciation for detail with strong work ethic
- Ability to communicate with customers, coworkers and various business agencies in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments
- Bilingual a plus

Preferred Qualifications:
- Post high school education or equivalent experience
- Experience with hospital settings, HIPAA, hospital billing, public benefits, customer service, financial counseling
