Overview:
The Midtown Group is looking for a Data Governance Expert to join a leading provider of professional IT services to the U.S. government. This role involves leading data governance initiatives, driving data quality improvements, and implementing data governance tools and technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data governance, data management, and working in an Agile environment. Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification with Collibra experience is highly desirable.
Job Description
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in data governance or data management.
- Experience leading cross-functional data governance teams and strategies to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- Experience driving data governance transformation, fostering data stewardship culture, and achieving measurable improvements in data quality and governance practices.
- Experience in advanced data governance concepts, data quality management, data stewardship, and data lineage tracking.
- Experience in implementing and managing data governance tools and technologies to support enterprise-wide data governance initiatives.
- Advanced knowledge of data profiling techniques, master data management, data cataloging, and metadata management.
- Experience configuring, using, and managing metadata management tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
- Experience using Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage).
- Experience with configuring and maintaining enterprise metadata templates (e.g., data dictionaries, business glossaries, metrics/KPI glossaries).
- Experience establishing methods to comply with data privacy regulations and industry compliance standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA.
- Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating requirements into technical specifications for product teams.
- Experience working in an Agile environment – working as a part of teams to iteratively develop and deliver data products.
- Experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with a focus on leading data governance projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards across complex data landscapes.
- Experience in data quality assessment, data remediation strategies, and data governance maturity assessments.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
(Recommended but not required) Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.
