Job Description:

The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa is a AAA Four Diamond hotel destination in Riverside, CA, and is seeking an experienced and motivated, reliable, friendly, and engaging individuals to join our team! Our host/hostess is the first to engage with our guests upon arrival and will help to set the tone for a positive dining experience. The Host/Hostess supports the front of house activities of the restaurant to ensure smooth operations for the waitstaff and guests. If you have a strong background in the restaurant industry, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving the hotel success, we encourage you to apply. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arrive as scheduled and on-time to each shift.
  • Greets guests upon arrival with a welcoming demeanor.
  • Enters and updates reservations in Open Table.
  • Escorts guests to their table and provide clean menus.
  • Ensures server seating areas are evenly/equitably seated.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with staff as needed to support a positive experience.
  • Keeps the podium and surrounding guest waiting areas clean and orderly.
  • Keeps all menus in good repair and alerts management when replacements are needed.
  • Responds to guest inquiries to the best of their ability or assists in locating appropriate staff.
  • Assists in guest service as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet business demand.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Over age 18 with high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training is preferred. This may include host/hostess experience, customer service, cashier, or front office experience.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience with restaurant seating charts, seating guests in a rotation fashion and managing reservations in "Open Table" is highly beneficial.
  • Must be reliable and have an open and flexible schedule with the ability and willingness to work on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
  • Will be comfortable greeting guests, making eye contact, and speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Will have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Will frequently apply common sense understanding to interpret and successfully execute instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Will regularly use good judgement to quickly assess situations and understand how to adjust or involve management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuously required to stand; and walk.
  • Continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to navigate a digital touch screen, handle, or grasp items, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to speak, hear in semi-loud environments, listen, and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Must be able to comply with health & safety protocols.

The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting and may be modified in the future.
