Buy-side Investment Analyst

Role: Analyst (Part-time)

• Compensation: Part-time: $50-75k depending on experience
• Location: Preference for DC/Northern Virginia, but open to virtual or hybrid
  
  

Mission

We are a startup hedge fund / investment management firm. The mission for the Analyst is to generate and evaluate investment ideas in US and global stock markets, communicate insights effectively and clearly to the team, be right at scale, within our cultural values.

Outcomes

• Idea generation - use industry knowledge and internal/external tools to generate new investment ideas in public equity markets consistent with our philosophy and process
• Idea diligence / evaluation - using our criteria and process, lead diligence on ideas; we are targeting 10-20 deep dives per year per analyst; eventually building to a full coverage load of 15-20 companies per Analyst
• Communication - communicate insights verbally and in writing
• Be right - establish a pattern of making correct predictions
• At scale - maintain a full coverage load to support your core strategies; a full coverage load is 15-20 holdings in our portfolios or buy list

Competencies

• Experience = 5 years of buy-side or sell-side experience working on stocks in US or global equity markets - if you don't have this, please do not apply!
• Understanding of fundamental stock research
• Ability to build financial models - this typically requires deep familiarity with accounting
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Can communicate with effectively with clients
• Can work in a team
• Can deal with ambiguity
• Self-motivated and self-starter
