Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to join our client's team and support critical legacy systems in an Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in COBOL development, with strong expertise in DB2, Endeavor, EZtrieve, and MVS/JCL. This role involves maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting mainframe applications to ensure system stability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, EZtrieve, and MVS/JCL.
- Utilize Endeavor for source code management and version control.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for DB2 to improve application performance.
- Work within an Agile environment, utilizing ServiceNow for tracking tasks, user stories, and project progress.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and data integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and QA testers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Follow best practices for coding, documentation, and testing to maintain system efficiency and reliability.
- Provide technical support and knowledge transfer to team members and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years of experience in COBOL development on mainframe systems.
- Strong experience with DB2, SQL, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language) for batch processing.
- Hands-on experience with Endeavor for version control.
- Knowledge of EZtrieve for report generation and data manipulation.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, with familiarity in ServiceNow for tracking work items.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance or other financial industries.
