About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support our growing finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and mission-driven accounting professional who wants to contribute to a high-impact organization. Reporting to a talented and supportive CFO who excels at mentoring and developing talent, this position offers growth potential and exposure to nonprofit financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Help prepare audit schedules and support external audits.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements.
- Utilize Yardi (preferred) or other accounting software for financial tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support financial processes and decision-making.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience: 2 years of accounting experience, preferably real estate or property management setting.
- Software Skills: Yardi experience is highly preferred, but candidates with strong experience in other accounting systems are welcome.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but open to candidates with strong relevant experience who are still going after degree.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to mission-driven work.
- Work Environment: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Rockville office.
