What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at The Moore Center?
This opening is for seasoned paraprofessional (5 years of experience working with ASD students, including those using AAC for speech generation) to work with a high school aged student who receives his education in a community-based environment in a 2 staff:1 student model. In this educational environment, a small core team embeds his curriculum into natural learning opportunities across settings to help mitigate a tendency toward splintered skills and to provide a dynamic learning experience. This position is temporary (approximately 10 weeks to cover maternity leave, however, may lead to other opportunities within the Bedford School District and beyond).
REQUIREMENTS:
ü DAYTIME WORKING HOURS 12-4 M-F, (no after 3pm applicants, please)
ü 5 years working with older students with autism, including non-speaking students
ü Safety training preferred
ü Familiarity with Assistive Augmentative Communication (AAC)
ü Excellent communication skills
ü Willingness to implement program across settings in the community and in locations outside of the classroom
ü Dynamic implementation approaches that honor the unique abilities and needs of this student.
