Job Overview:
As a Mortgage Underwriter at The Mortgage Link, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and underwriting residential mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. You’ll be an integral part of our mission to provide high-quality lending solutions, working closely with loan officers and processors to deliver timely and accurate loan decisions.
The Mortgage Underwriter will report to the Underwriting Manager and work in the following key areas:
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and underwrite conventional, FHA, VA, and jumbo mortgage loans in accordance with investor and company guidelines.
• Analyze credit reports, income documentation, asset statements, and other relevant financial data to determine creditworthiness.
• Assess the risks associated with each mortgage loan application and make sound credit decisions.
• Ensure all files meet underwriting conditions prior to final approval.
• Stay up to date with changes in industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
• Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to provide timely and accurate decisions.
• Manage pipeline to meet or exceed department goals for turn times and production.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5-7 years of mortgage underwriting experience, including expertise in FHA, VA, and conventional loans.
• DE (Direct Endorsement and LAPP/SAR certifications required
• Strong understanding of credit, income, and asset analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with ICE Encompass preferred
• Excellent problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills required
