Job Description
Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Job Specialty : ICU Nurse - Float Pool
Job Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM (3x12-hour shifts per week, plus an additional 4th shift required per month, every other weekend)
Guaranteed Hours : 34.50 hours per week
Experience : Minimum 2 years of critical care / tele experience, minimum 2 years RN experience.
License : Registered Nurse (RN)
Certifications : BLS, ACLS
Must-Have : 2 years minimum ICU float pool experience in a hospital setting, Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, EPIC experience highly preferred.
Job Description :
- Delivers patient care incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and utilizing the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Assesses and evaluates patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
- Educates patients and caregivers on their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease.
- Communicates effectively with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, demonstrating effective resource allocation.
- Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through key actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and knowledge in all aspects of care, and establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with them.
- Initiates service recovery for patients and family members with concerns, escalating to appropriate managers as needed.
- Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care and conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing critical patient needs.
- Ensures safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes and collaborates on quality improvement projects and studies.
- Performs charge nurse duties as assigned and coordinates with relevant managers to ensure supply and inventory sufficiency.
- Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to equipment, staff, and resource utilization, and accurately documents patient care.
- Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis and engages in professional development activities to advance clinical competence.
- Encourages a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, life-long learning, and innovation, participating in shared decision-making through practice councils and committees.
