About:
Lohmann America’s is looking for a Director of Operations who will oversee the management of all manufacturing plants' operations to produce products that are most cost-effective and meet quality standards. The Director of Operations will report directly to the President of Lohmann Americas with a dotted line into the Global Head of Operations. This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. This position requires up to 25% travel, some of it being international.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in business administration, industrial engineering or related field.
- 10 or more years of experience managing manufacturing plants.
- Knowledge of industrial engineering, human resources laws and regulations, and employee relations skills.
- Experience managing manufacturing plants in the apparel industry.
- Prior experience managing a distribution center.
- Experience in working with manufacturing-based technology.
- In-House Hazardous Waste Training Level II or higher.
- Lean Six.
- Sigma Black Belt Certification.
Responsibilities:
Supplier Communications: (Oversight and responsibility for the following)
- Convey product requirements to vendors through order process.
- Coordination of materials with production department for trial production.
- Convey delivery requirements, including packaging and freight carrier specifications to suppliers.
- Oversee freight expense, reduce and combine shipments where necessary.
- Oversee open orders to ensure they are on track & received as requested.
Inventory Activities: (Oversight and responsibility for the following)
- Responsible for accuracy of end of the month reporting.
- Warehouse management practices and organization.
- Inventory control activities including use of FIFO.
- Identification and control of inventory variances.
- Production Management.
- Daily communication with Maintenance and Plant Manager to maintain downtime below established goals.
- Maintain quality objectives as established by Management Review meeting.
- Daily communication with Plant Manager to ensure production schedule is maintained according to Production Plan and materials are converted and inspected in accordance with company standards, customer quality requirements, and meeting or exceeding committed ship dates.
- Modification of Production Plan as required to customer and inventory requirements and/or to include new products and raw material requirements.
Environmental & Safety Activities:
- Hazardous Waste Activities.
- Notifying Site Manager of any gross Hazardous Waste and Safety Violations that could result in penalties from corresponding organizations.
- Regular inspection of facility for proper hazardous waste management practices.
- Regular inspection of facility for proper safety practices.
- Inspection of facility records to ensure Production Coordinator completes monthly DEQ reporting requirements within 4 business days of months close.
- Ensure all annual records for DEQ reporting are current and complete as required by CFRs and DEQ Air Permit.
- Ensure all equipment is inspected and maintained in accordance with OSHA and DEQ requirements, whether annual or semiannual.
