Summary
The Cash and Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by applying fundamental accounting principles to accurately process and record daily deposits and create records for incoming funds in a timely manner. This position is responsible for all cash receipts and accounts receivable activities on a daily basis, including but not limited to cash deposits, importing, and exporting data, and creating and maintaining accurate financial records. This position may provide support for other members of the accounting team as directed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Process day to day cash receipts including daily deposits, posting to the general ledger, and correctly classifying all receipts to the appropriate fund.
- Reconcile and record daily Museum revenue from admissions and store sales.
- Troubleshoot and solve balance variances in a timely manner.
- Create and monitor invoices; facilitate payment due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients.
- Enter daily data for Accounts Receivable invoices from various Museum departments.
- Work closely with the administrators of Museum Point of Sale (POS) and other financial software systems, such as Outbound, Counterpoint, Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, Worldpay and TripleSeat, to ensure timely and accurate monthly accounting and financially related information.
- Work with the Accounting Manager in to develop and document processes to enhance the Accounts Receivable function.
- May provide backup support for Accounts Payable and assist with general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) year of accounts receivable, cash receipts, or bookkeeping experience including proven accurate data entry experience.
- Relevant internal Museum service may be considered in lieu of minimum years of experience.
Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of Accounts Receivable processes and basic general ledger maintenance.
Skills
- Solid data entry skills with the ability to integrate information accurately and thoroughly from disparate sources.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated effective and efficient communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and Word.
Abilities
- Proven ability to problem solve; identify, analyze, and correct issues in a timely manner.
- Deadline oriented including the ability to prioritize competing tasks in an efficient manner.
- Ability to work well independently, in a team environment, and with a diverse population of internal and external customers.

- Schedule is assigned by the supervisor with flexibility required for some weekends, holidays, and evenings based on Museum needs.

Paid-Time Off
Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.
Compensation
The hourly range for this position is $22.00 to $30.00 depending on experience.
