What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Head Teacher 25/26 school year position at The Mustard Seed Preschool?
The Mustard Seed Preschool is seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team as our lead teacher in the 4 year old classroom. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for young children and God, a creative approach to teaching, and the ability to foster a nurturing and educational environment. This roughly 24 hours per week, part-time position requires working Monday through Friday 8:30am - 1:00pm and offers an hourly wage between $18.00 and $20.00 based upon experience and professional education. Meeting the requirements for Office of Licensing Head Teacher certification is a must.
Duties
- Coordinate and implement age-appropriate educational curriculum and activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth for the preschool children based on developmentally appropriate learning standards.
- Oversee and support other classroom lead teachers in developing their classroom lesson plans, coordinating themes among the classrooms, and help support creative development for classroom activities.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel welcomed and supported.
- Assess the developmental needs of children and tailor activities to meet these needs in both individual and group settings.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment by maintaining classroom cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and school policies.
- Communicate effectively and frequently with parents regarding their child's progress, both in person and through digital communication through our ProCare app.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Manage classroom behavior in a positive and constructive manner and supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards
- Lead by example and collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
Requirements
- A - Master's Degree in Education Six credits and one year of experience
- B - Master's Degree in any field other than Education Nine credits and one year of experience
- C - Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Health Care, Nursing, or any other field related to Child Growth and Development; or Teaching Certification from Department of Education in Elementary Education, Nursery School, Preschool through Third Grade (P-3) or Teacher of the Handicapped Six credits and two years of experience
- D - Bachelor's Degree in any field other than those listed in Option C Nine credits and three years of experience OR Six credits and four years of experience
- E - Teaching Certification from Department of Education in a field other than those listed in Option C Nine credits and three years of experience OR Six credits and four years of experience
- F - Montessori education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree Two years of experience
- G - Head Teacher endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey
The credits specified in the list above shall be college credits in early childhood education or child development. These credits may be part of the bachelor's or master's degree or constitute additional credits beyond the degree(s).
The years of experience specified in the list above shall be full-time experience in a group program for children under six years of age. This experience may include supervised practice teaching or student teaching.
