What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rate Filing Analyst - Remote Opportunity position at The Mutual Group?
As the Rate Filing Analyst, you will be responsible for managing key projects, strategizing, collaborating, and preparing rate filings for a variety of products, including but not limited to Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, General Liability, Business owners, and Commercial Multi-Peril. Your role will involve working with pricing models and ensuring all filings comply with regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities
- Gathers data and prepares exhibits containing premium and claim statistics to state insurance departments, bureaus and other regulatory agencies. Prepares error-free state filing forms, exhibits, memos and supporting materials for regulatory filings.
- Develops rate proposals, calculates policyholder impacts, prepares filing exhibits, and provides rate level indications to support rate filings.
- Works closely with business partners to shape filing strategies and ensure successful rate implementation.
- Assembles comprehensive filing packages, including state transmittal forms, exhibits, and other necessary documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Stays informed on industry best practices and drives innovation by developing tools for rate impact analysis and other filing exhibits.
- Addresses regulatory inquiries and objections by conducting analyses, researching, and collaborating with business partners. Provides strategic recommendations to influence filing outcomes.
- Ensures tools and processes deliver accurate, efficient, and consistent results. Identifies areas for improvement in existing systems and suggests solutions.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, etc. or equivalent.
- Previous experience in insurance, underwriting, actuarial analysis, or rate filings is preferred.
- Broad knowledge of insurance industry regulations and rate filing processes.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software (SQL knowledge is a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management, organizational, and planning capabilities.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address and resolve moderately complex issues effectively.
Compensation
- $59,400 - $99,000 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility
- $65,400 - $109,000 commensurate with experience in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, plus bonus eligibility
