Job Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within our facility. Duties
- Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring adherence to best practices in patient care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Oversee compliance with Medicare regulations and standards related to hospice care, assisted living, and nursing home operations.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits of nursing practices to ensure quality assurance.
- Facilitate staff training and development programs to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements and ensure accurate documentation.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure that all staff members are trained in respecting these rights.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology to assess patient conditions and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with home health agencies to coordinate care transitions for residents.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably in hospice care or assisted living environments.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations, MDS processes, and nursing home compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively lead a diverse team.
- Familiarity with systems used for patient management and documentation.
- Compassionate approach towards patient care with a focus on enhancing resident quality of life.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team while advocating for both staff and residents.
