The Legal Director provides leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services, advocacy, and education to eligible clients. This role oversees the legal team, supports pro bono volunteers, and plays a key role in funding efforts. The Legal Director works closely with the Executive Director to advance the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the legal team, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Oversee day-to-day legal work, case reviews, and advocacy efforts.
- Engage in grant writing, reporting, and fundraising activities.
- Develop and maintain legal resources for staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Collaborate with external partners and participate in systemic advocacy efforts.
- Ensure program quality and compliance with grant requirements.
- Juris Doctorate and active NH state law license (or ability to obtain one within a year).
- 5 years of litigation or direct client representation experience, preferably in public interest law.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to manage resources effectively.
- Commitment to the nonprofit’s mission and serving the community.
