San Francisco Family | Infant Nanny

The Nanny Matchmaker
San Francisco, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 2/3/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/2/2025

THE FAMILY | An active, organized, and loving San Francisco family welcomed their first child last summer and have been enjoying the last five months together. With their parental leave coming to an end, they seek a new nanny to join their team and partner with them in raising their daughter. The role begins early March and the parents are open to offering part-time hours before their ideal start date.

If you are a warm, experienced nanny knowledgeable about infant and toddler care, have a background in child development, and enjoy partnering with first-time parents on their parenting journey, this is the role for you.

THE INFANT | She is five months old and described as happy and calm. She is formula-fed and will start transitioning to solids soon. She sleeps well throughout the night and naps throughout the day but can struggle with their length and consistency.

THE JOB DETAILS | Provide loving care for the infant girl, focusing on nurturing her development and engaging her in age-appropriate activities. Your responsibilities include comprehensive daily care of the daughter and collaborating closely with parents in their child-raising efforts.

The role involves working alongside the parents and independently managing the child’s care and overall well-being tasks. This encompasses daily care, maintaining hygiene, feeding, creating engaging activities, diaper disposal, bottles and toys sanitation, restocking necessary items, handling laundry, transitioning to solids, age-appropriate meal prep, potty training, etc.

Although the main focus is the infant and all chores related to or indirectly related to her care, when there is downtime, such as during feeds with mom or when she‘s napping, the family would love having help with light housekeeping in common areas, tidying up, washing dishes, keeping things organized, keeping the day-to-day flow, basic pet care, etc.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | This family’s ideal candidate has at least five years of nanny experience and two years of infant and toddler experience. They deeply understand what young children and first-time parents need to thrive.

They're skilled at creating safe, fun educational activities tailored to each child's age and developmental stage. They know how to share tips and offer advice when needed. They are happy to get on the floor for tummy time or general home-based activities and are equally comfortable taking the daughter on outings and walks around their neighborhood. They are comfortable lifting an infant or toddler (weighing 15 to more than 30lbs) daily and believe in science and evidence-based practices and methods.

Their ideal candidate has a genuine passion for caring for children and nurturing families. They are comfortable with parents who work from home and enjoy building strong bonds with the entire family, including dogs. (You must love large dogs.)

This candidate brings calmness, kindness, and compassion to their work. They're energetic, reliable, and always professional. They have a positive attitude and strong communication skills—a strong written and verbal command of English is required. A second language, such as Spanish or ASL, is a perk but not required.

This candidate is a self-starter, proactive, organized, and helpful in anticipating the needs of others. They understand that they are there to help care for the growing infant and all tasks that directly or indirectly relate to her care and well-being. They also understand that as the infant grows, the scope of the role adapts and changes to accommodate her needs as a toddler and beyond. In addition, they recognize the parents' new journey and support them with tasks that make their lives and day-to-day flow effortlessly.

  • Seeking full-time work, comfortable working 40 to 45 hours a week
