About the role:
We are searching for a Director, Accounting to lead day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and journal entries. This position reports to the CFO and CEO and will ensure that systems and procedures are in place for internal controls and compliance.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare financial, regulatory, and ad hoc reports for management and the Board in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Coordinate activities of external auditors for the annual audit, including preparation of work papers, consolidated financials and statement of functional expenses.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for leadership and the board.
- Monitor cash and create and post journal entries and manage bank reconciliations.
- Creates and posts journal entries for mulitple companies.
- Prepares documentation to substantiate general journal entries and general ledger balances.
- Compiles information annually for worker’s compensation audit.
- Prepares TPT forms quarterly to submit to the Arizona Dept. of Revenue for sales tax on commercial leased properties.
- Prepare Form 990 and 1099s annually.
- Provide support for the annual budget.
- Run bi-weekly payroll, coordination of payroll deductions and changes and implement payroll procedures.
- Prepares reports for management, Health Choice Arizona and AHCCCS on the expenditures for Community Reinvestment funds; in addition, provides management reports on all grants, sponsorships and other projects as needed
- Ensure systems and procedures are in place for internal controls and compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and laws.
- Supervise and mentor the Accounts Payable team.
- Coordinate with internal legal counsel as appropriate.
Position Requirements - Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience with detailed experience in payroll, 1099s, IRS 990, cost allocation, preparing non-profit financials.
