Job Summary
Actively participates in initiatives across all areas of the finance function and executes on key deliverables to meet company objectives. Prepares accounting and financial data and performs reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers, in support of financial reporting and operational objectives. Able to independently research and document accounting information, identify issues and see them through to resolution. Works closely with all areas within Corporate Finance and with other company functions as assignments require
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage regulatory filing requirements and compliance with statutory deadlines
- Actively supports quarterly and annual close cycles, and assists in preparation of quarterly and annual insurance company Statutory and GAAP financial reports
- Supports the preparation of quarterly STAT and GAAP financial statements and disclosures, ensuring supporting documentation is in line with company controls
- Prepare and record entries, analyze data, and run queries and reports within the General Ledger system (PeopleSoft)
- Prepares account reconciliations (BlackLine) and certifies to the accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Assist in managing the quarterly close process, including assisting with preparation and monitoring of the close calendar
- Duties may range across Nassau corporate finance and accounting and/or work within targeted functions, with potential for cross-training and rotation
- Supports finance initiatives, special projects and sees tasks through to completion
- Interacts with other areas of the company in finance role
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Applicants should have or are in the process of finishing a degree in Accounting/Finance with an interest in financial services; CPA preparation a plus but not required
- 1-3 years of related accounting or finance experience
- Experience in or familiarity with the insurance industry preferred
- Proven ability to work independently and learn quickly
- Team player with the ability to work independently in fast-paced dynamic environment
- Sound judgment, communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid time management skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Analytical skills with ability to synthesize and summarize data
- Strong technology skills and use of various applications/software (MS Office Apps, incl. Excel)
- PeopleSoft experience a plus

The base salary for this position falls within Nassau’s salary band D: $60,000-$75,000 depending upon experience
