The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nonprofit Finance Manager to oversee the needs of the financial operations of our organization. This full-time, hybrid position requires a 40-hour workweek, with non-hybrid days based at our Emmitsburg office.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Manager will be responsible for preparing financial statements, overseeing grants management, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations while supporting the organization’s financial needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to convey complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders. This key role requires a proactive approach to financial management and a deep commitment to the values and mission of our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial :

  • Monitor financial performance as compared to budget and ensure transacions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain monthly reconciliations of various assets and liability accounts
  • Oversee invoicing of corporate contracts, supporters, and sponsoshrips
  • Manage corporate credit card program and expense reporting
  • Prepare various payrolls, benefits, and leave calculations and reports
  • Prepare financial statements, variance analysis, and supporting workpapers for financial and compliance audits
  • Analyze the financial performance and reporting of federal grants, contracts, campaigns, and in-kind donations
  • Manage state sales tax compliance and reporting requirements
  • Serve as primary contact for auditors during the annual financial statement audit

Grants Management

  • Collaborate with program staff to prepare budgets and financial reports for federal grants, including quarterly progress reports and reimbursement requests
  • Ensure timely reporting and maintain grants calendar and master files
  • Financial Administration

  • File state registration documents for fundraising activities
  • Track and report leave balances.
  • MINIMUM QUALITIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with 5 years of nonprofit financial management experience
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Experience managing grants, federal procurement and acquisition standards, and Uniform Guidance compliance audits
  • Proficiency in accounting software, financial management systems, and Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and in teams, and build stakeholder relationships
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
