Job Description
The Energy Security, Resilience, and Integration Operations (ESRI) group is seeking an experienced technician to lead the operations electrical team, providing technical support to researchers in experiment development, equipment operation, and maintenance. This role involves ensuring that projects meet expectations and requirements, often through original work contributions and feedback on design, plans, and processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Team Leadership : Lead the day-to-day operations of the electrical team, overseeing task assignments, providing feedback on performance, and offering mentorship and training. Handle escalated issues, assist with work distribution and scheduling.
- Technical Support : Provide design, fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing for research equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify electronic / electro-mechanical devices and systems.
- Project Oversight : Manage projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule following established guidelines and policies. Review work at regular intervals while performing individual tasks related to the electrical team.
- Equipment & Machinery : Operate required machinery (e.g., lifts, industrial trucks, machine shop equipment) to perform duties.
- Electrical Design & Documentation : Design circuitry and wiring for electrical control panels, system interconnections, and produce related documentation using Visio or AutoCAD.
- Maintenance & Calibration : Develop electrical maintenance schedules and perform calibration and maintenance on instrumentation per testing protocols.
- Testing & Validation : Develop diagnostic tests and assist in designing and testing complex test equipment. Perform validation of components and evaluate their performance.
- Safety & Process Improvement : Contribute to the development of safety practices, manufacturing processes, and training materials. Support lockout / tagout procedures and safe operating procedures for equipment.
- Problem Solving & Leadership : Provide technical solutions to complex problems, working independently with minimal direction. Mentor and lead technical staff, ensuring solutions align with organizational objectives.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education / experience.
Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 8 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education / experience.
Extensive knowledge in specialized focused support functions. A comprehensive acquaintance with and understanding of both general and detailed aspects of technical support activities, and their practical application to a wide variety of problems and situations specific to the discipline or field supported.
Strong research techniques and practices. Strong communication, interpersonal, project management and customer relations skills.
Additional Required Qualifications
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team to deliver high-quality results.
