Title: Conservation Fundraising Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for elevating the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) by securing revenue and growing membership in support of the mission and current large-scale conservation initiatives in the state of Colorado, through collaboration with the Western Director of Development, Colorado NWTF conservation staff, current volunteers and by personally recruiting new members through event fundraising growth and philanthropic giving. This Position is also responsible for organizing and servicing all current NWTF committees and fundraising events/activities within Colorado. This position reports to the Director of Field Operations (DFO) West.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and growing a diverse portfolio of fundraising activities and chapter development in Colorado around current large scale conservation initiatives.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations in support of current large-scale conservation initiatives.
  • Effectively and promptly, respond to donor and volunteer inquiries through written correspondence, telephone contact and email.
  • Actively researches, identifies, and recruits new volunteers and major donors for NWTF.
  • Skilled in Social Media communications to promote the NWTF and its mission.
  • Is responsible for maintaining and solidifying, through volunteer recruitment and personal leadership, all existing NWTF Local Chapters and fundraising events in Colorado.
  • Is responsible for developing and establishing, through volunteer recruitment and personal leadership, new NWTF Local Chapters and fundraising events in the region.
  • Is responsible for their respective goals and objectives including, but not limited to, annual budgeted fundraising and controllable expense levels.
  • Ensures compliance with NWTF established operating and reporting procedures for activities within their region and their personal scope of business.
  • Is responsible for maintaining accurate volunteer and chapter contact information in NWTF database.
  • Communicates with their DFO, National Headquarters staff, Regional NWTF Conservation staff, Local Chapter volunteers and leaders, and State Board of Directors on a regular basis.
  • Works with State Chapter President, state agencies, and other NWTF staff to develop a strong State Chapter and State Super Fund to ensure effective partnerships for NWTF mission delivery within the state.
  • Promotes NWTF, its mission, and initiatives to NWTF members, within local communities, to local media, social media and other organizations.
  • Attend annual NWTF Convention, regional meetings and training opportunities, as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and listening
  • Commitment to personally cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gift commitments
  • Strong planning, organization, leadership, and management skills
  • Experience in using computer-based information systems in support of fundraising programs
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively in performance of responsibilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle and ability to establish a home office with dependable internet access
  • Must reside in a mutually agreed upon location in the region
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Management or related field or equivalent combination

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Work involves extensive driving.
  • Subject to both inside and outside locations with variable temperature and weather conditions and may involve walking on uneven ground
  • May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds
