Description:
A kind, active family in Castle Rock is searching for a reliable and compassionate nanny to join their team in August and help with morning and after-school routines during the academic year. Their two children—a bright, athletic 5-year-old boy and a sweet, nonverbal 7-year-old daughter with extra needs—are both in school full-time. The family hopes to find a confident, upbeat nanny who can build trust with the kids, take initiative, and communicate openly with parents.
This is an ideal position for a nanny who has experience supporting children with diverse abilities and enjoys both quiet moments and playful energy. The schedule offers the perfect opportunity for someone looking to supplement their hours with another position or personal endeavors.
About the Family:
- Their 7-year-old daughter is a happy, go-with-the-flow child who is ambulatory and learning to use an AAC device. She will need support with dressing, toileting, and staying safe, as she tends to wander. She eats well, feeds herself, and is an easygoing presence.
- Their 5-year-old son is an outgoing, active, and energetic little guy who loves sports, the outdoors, and thrives with structure and movement.
- Both children attend the same school, though they have separate drop-off and pick-up routines.
- Mom works in the ER at UC Health and dad works from home.
- The family values open communication, respect, and kindness. They’re happy to provide training and are very supportive of their caregivers.
- They’ve previously worked with nannies and are happy to do a trial day to ensure a good fit.
Commitment:
This role will run from August through the end of the school year, with a strong likelihood of continued summer hours for the right fit. They are hoping for someone who can commit through at least December.
Ideal Nanny:
The family is looking for a patient, proactive nanny who has experience with or exposure to children with extra needs (personal, professional, or even family experience is welcome). The ideal candidate is responsible, intuitive, and genuinely loves spending time with children.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meaningful work with a consistent, flexible schedule.
Nanny Requirements:
- At least 2 years of private household nanny experience (minimum requirement)
- Comfortable supporting children with additional needs
- Willing to use their personal car for school drop-off/pick-up (mileage reimbursed)
- Must be punctual, reliable, and communicative
- Open to feedback and collaboration with parents
- No specific vaccinations required
- Background in education, therapy, or special needs care is a plus but not required
Daily Responsibilities:
Morning Routine (6:00 AM–9:00 AM):
- Help the children wake up, get dressed, and eat breakfast
- Support the 7-year-old with toileting and hygiene
- Assist with simple chores like making beds and tidying up breakfast items
- Feed the family dog (12 years old)
- School drop-offs (each child has a different schedule)
- On Wednesdays: drop off son at Basecamp and either attend or wait during daughter’s speech therapy session in Centennial
Afternoon Routine (3:00 PM–5:00 PM):
- Pick up the children from school (staggered pickup schedule)
- Prepare and serve snacks
- Engage the children in play or afternoon activities
- On Wednesdays: drive daughter to horseback riding therapy
If you're a warm, confident nanny who enjoys creating calm mornings and fun afternoons, and you’re excited about joining a family that truly values their caregiver, we’d love to hear from you!
