The Natural Resources Trust of Easton (“NRT”) is conducting a search for the Trust’s next Executive Director.

The NRT of Easton is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was created in 1967 to protect and preserve land of special cultural and environmental importance for the community. The NRT Trust owns and manages several properties and conservation restrictions. The largest property is the 154-acre Sheep Pasture in Easton, MA. This flagship property is the location of all of the NRTTrust’s offices and public programming, as well as public access to trails and outdoor recreations.

The Natural Resources Trust of Easton, Inc. (NRT) seeks an experienced and passionate leader to serve as its next Executive Director. The Executive Director will provide overall leadership and strategic implementation, support the Board of Directors, provide programmatic and administrative leadership for the Trust staff, work to secure grants and manage fundraising, ensure legal compliance, oversee agricultural operations, coordinate conservation restriction management and oversight, and manage the NRT’s day-to-day financial and business operations.

The Executive Director works closely with all members of the Trust’s staff, as well as the Board of Directors, local stakeholders, and community members in order to achieve success for the organization.

The Executive Director is a full-time, on-site, exempt position that reports to the Trust Board of Directors. The Director oversees a staff which includes members of administrative, property management, and education departments. In addition, the Executive Director oversees the work of the many volunteers, contractors, and others involved in the operation of the NRT.

Board and Organizational and Governance

● Collaborate with and engage the Board of Directors and committees as necessary to set the Trust’s vision and strategic direction, create achievable organizational goals, and monitor progress for desired deliverables

● Set the agenda for Plan scheduled Board meetings with the President to keep the Board abreast of the organization activities to so that it provides strong governance of the organization, monitors implementation of the current goals, oversees financial reporting, and ensures legal and regulatory compliance

● Set and model an inclusive and equitable organizational culture, by directing the operations of the organization and working to ensure a workplace culture centered

in the following the Trust’s mission, vision, and priorities

● Collaborate with and maintain a healthy, productive relationship with members of the local community, including schools, non-governmental organizations, cultural organizations, governmental organizations, and other stakeholders

● Provide leadership and support to Trust staff as needed to meet the goals of the mission of the organization

● Utilize sound financial acumen to engage and coordinate with the NRT Treasurer, Board of Directors, committee members, and others as needed to meet budget objectives

● Partner with the Office Manager as needed to provide financial oversight,

timely and accurate payment of bills, preparation of monthly financial reports, and

Coordination with the auditor selected by the Board for preparation of annual audited financial reports and Form 990 tax return

● Oversee all human resources functions including hiring, supervision and support of Trust employees and administration of employment benefits. Ensure compliance with all

applicable laws and regulations, and oversee employee recruitment, hiring, supervision, and annual review processes. Coordinate and operate the required criminal background reporting for operation of all programs.

Fundraising & Grants Management

● Collaborate with applicable necessary staff and/or contractors to create successful grant proposals and grants administration activities to meet the needs of the organization

●Lead and conduct Business Development functions by Work with Office Manager to create and implementing various fundraising activities, including annual appeals, membership appeals, etc.

● Maintain or ensure accurate data management and record-keeping, timely reporting, grant compliance, and grant payment requests

● Work with NRT staff, Board of Directors, and necessary stakeholders to create annual successful fundraising events, including the NRT’s Harvest and Craft Fair.

Agriculture and Land Management

● Oversee the management of all NRT owned properties and all conservation restrictions held by NRT. Work with Property Steward to coordinate monitoring and maintenance activities. Coordinate work with outside contractors, local government, and others as needed for completion of work.

● Work with Property Steward to oversee NRT’s overall agricultural needs, including hay production, land management, livestock care and management, operation of community gardens, and property maintenance.

● Manage relationships with abutting landowners of NRT properties and manage all needs of the NRT’s conservation properties and conservation restrictions

Educational and Community OutreachCommunity Outreach

· ● Work with the NRT Education Director to create educational programming for community members, schools, and other stakeholders that is aligned with the NRT’s mission and values

● Oversee the operations of the education department and monitor budgetary progress toward meeting financial goals for programming

● Work with the Education Director to meet the resource and professional development needs of the NRT education staff and seasonal camp staff as needed.

● Coordinate with the educators to represent NRT and its mission in the community at schools, colleges, and other community events.

● Work with NRT staff members to coordinate social media, advertising, and other forms of community outreach for the benefit of the Trust and its operations.

· The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader who possesses many of the following professional and personal abilities and attributes:

· Passionate about the mission: We seek a leader who is passionate about the Trust’s mission to expand and improve opportunities for the public to connect with wildlife and nature.

· Demonstrated experience: We seek a leader who has demonstrated management and leadership experience in a nonprofit and/or governmental organization, including experience in general management, land conservation, municipal/ non-profit management, educational administration, or similar.

· A strong collaborator: We seek a leader who communicates effectively with diverse audiences, cultivates relationships, authentically builds connections with local communities and organizations, and values the diversity of the lived experiences of others.

· Organizational management: We seek a leader who can develop and implement strategies in pursuit of a shared vision, has fundraising and/or grants management experience, brings significant knowledge of nonprofit budgeting and financial management, and has supported and/or served on a nonprofit Board of Directors.

Minimum Qualifications

· ● Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, or a combination of a closely related degree and relevant work experience. MastersMaster’s degree preferred.

· ● 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit and/or governmental organization as described above

· ● Experience with land management, agricultural practices, educational program management, and/or similar roles

· ● Demonstrable experience managing a diverse workplace staff, including all necessary HR functions and performance assessments while maintaining required levels of confidentiality

· Willing and able to be on site 4-5 days per week directly supervising NRT business.

Compensation

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,0000________, commensurate with

· experience. In addition, the Trust offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
