Managed by the Naval Academy Golf Association, the Naval Academy Golf Course is an 18-hole university course. It is the home course of the Brigade of Midshipmen, Naval Academy golf teams, active and retired military, USNA faculty and staff, and civilian members. The Naval Academy golf course was realized in 1938, when the U. S. Navy purchased the surrounding land on Greenbury Point in order to expand their radio communications facility. Always recognized as one of the top university golf courses in the nation, the course underwent an extensive renovation in 2020, restoring it to its original William Flynn design.
Summary
The 1st Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for providing exemplary customer service to our Members and their guests daily, including oversight of several member groups. In addition to responsibilities with the member groups, the Assistant Golf Professional will join our team in managing the day to day operations including tee time reservations, managing outside staff shifts, and golf shop coverage. This role will also be assigned specific responsibilities with regards to merchandising in the golf shop, junior golf administration, and multiple other roles as assigned by the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Occasional travel to attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Enforce golf operations policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and resources
- Demonstrates positive interactions with all staff and members/guests, and meetingestablished quality and safety expectations.
- Develop and oversee golf instruction, clinics, golf schools, and player development programs for all customer segments
- Serve as tournament coordinator, rules official and scorer several times per week
- Experience, Education, & Certification(s)
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- PGA Class “A” Member or active participation in the PGA program
- Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing, current on required PGA Continuing Education
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Experienced in written and oral business communications
- Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament software (i.e. Golf Genius)
- Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
- Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
