Responsible for the development, implementation and management of the organization’s security strategies, policies, and programs. The position will ensure the protection of Nebraska Medicine’s physical assets, intellectual property, and colleague safety. The role involves strategic planning, risk management, and collaboration with other leaders and departments to integrate security measures through the organization.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.Minimum 7 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or emergency management required.Minimum 5 years of leadership experience required.Experience managing security technology and systems (e.g., access control, video surveillance, emergency response systems) required.Proven experience in emergency preparedness and incident response in healthcare or other critical infrastructure required.Familiarity with Joint Commission (TJC) regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards related to hospital security required.Ability to develop and execute long-term physical security strategies required.Expertise in conducting risk and vulnerability assessments required.Familiarity with healthcare-specific security policies and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, TJC) required.Experience with modern physical security systems, surveillance tools, and emergency alert systems required.Ability to lead during crises such as lockdowns, evacuations, and emergency responses required.Capacity to analyze incident data and security trends to make data-driven decisions required.Ability to engage with leadership, staff, and external partners (like law enforcement or emergency responders) required.Skills in handling sensitive interpersonal situations related to safety, visitor control, and employee incidents required.Knowledge of tools and systems such as access control, video surveillance, incident reporting systems, emergency communication systems, etc required.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree preferred. Healthcare or hospital leadership experience preferred.Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, or CHPA are highly desirable.
