The Account Manager at Nelson Thermal Insulation & Firestopping Company oversees and manages all client accounts, ensuring seamless administration, client relationship management, estimating, and production. This role demands a proactive approach to maintain high service standards and client satisfaction, thereby upholding the company's reputation and ensuring client retention. This role and industry as a whole operate in a highly fast-paced environment and requires the Account Manager to work efficiently, be flexible, and multitask seamlessly.
Account Managers are responsible for the following:
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
§ Account Classification and Planning: Classify accounts based on specific needs and develop tailored business plans for each account to drive success and growth
§ Relationship Development: Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, ensuring they feel valued, understood, and heard
§ Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Utilize negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and resolve any
client concerns promptly and effectively, maintaining a positive client experience. Be proactive.
§ Project Management Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with project managers to ensure that all parties are aligned on project goals and progress
o Once the sale is official, provide all necessary pieces of information (write-ups, submittals, project schedules, etc.) to the Project Manager to make sure the job gets completed.
§ Deadline Management: Manage and monitor project start dates and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of all client commitments
§ Change Orders: Understand and manage change orders effectively, ensuring all changes are documented, approved, and communicated to all relevant parties
§ Production Checks: Conduct regular production checks to guarantee that the output meets the agreed
specifications and quality standards
o In conjunction with PM, understand project progress and percentage complete in order to provide timely and accurate invoicing (necessary for monthly Billing Meetings)
§ Project Understanding: Gain a thorough understanding of the pricing sheet/cost estimations, project drawings, specifications, documents, and schedules
§ Material Knowledge: Develop knowledge of materials used in projects, why said materials are needed, and the importance of accurate estimation to profit margin gains.
§ Through Penetration Firestopping Systems: Acquire knowledge and thorough understanding of mechanical systems and the reasons why we insulate them to enhance estimation accuracy and client consultations.
§ Project Reviews: Conduct detailed project reviews to ensure estimations are accurate and realistic,
adjusting projections and strategies as necessary
§ Software Fluency: Must learn how to use Nelson’s estimating software (OnCenter)
§ Documentation and Compliance: Understand how to complete write-ups, prepare submittals, and gather essential information before initiating a job, including Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and other prerequisites
§ Software and Excel Proficiency: Efficiently use Salesforce to input client information and QuickBooks to manage client invoices and financial data. Excel is necessary in order to complete multiple daily tasks à it is in everything Account Managers do.
§ Departmental Coordination: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the different departments within the company and how they connect and interact to facilitate seamless operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Skills and Experience Includes:
§ Proven experience and demonstrated record of achievement as an Account Manager, preferably in the insulation or construction industry
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
§ Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
§ Detail-oriented with a focus on safety and quality
§ Leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Role will require you manage the many changes that appear on the day to day and integrate into Nelson’s operational fold.
§ Track record managing people
§ Strong experience and comfort with managing metrics and budgets.
o Assume Excel knowledge and strong analytical skills.
§ Ability to work in our office with ability to travel to client sites
§ Must be available to work from 7am-5pm (with some flexibility) and understand that this role typically requires 40-50 hours per week
