What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records - Release of Information Specialist position at The Neurosurgical & Spine Institute?
Fast paced Neurosurgery practice looking for a motivated, people person to join our team and assist in getting the right patient records to the right patient resources.
Responsibilities include:
- Process medical record requests from law offices, insurance companies, and other authorized entities through Verisma software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Export or print/provide requested clinical and/or billing documents via mail, fax, encrypted email, in person pick up and/or Verisma platform depending on nature of request.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
- Maintain a pleasant demeanor and provides excellent customer service to those seeking records.
- Receive and respond to all calls, voicemails, and emails related to medical records requests.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve record release issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Review and respond to patient requests for access to the Patient Portal (Follow My Health).
- Assist with organizing, scanning, and indexing documents received from various medical offices.
- Provide support as needed to share records with other care partners seeking records for continuity of care purposes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
