POSITION SUMMARY
The Access Programs Coordinator works closely with the Manager, Creative Community Advocacy to provide day-to-day administrative oversight, program development and implementation for the Museum’s access and community programs. The Access Programs Coordinator will be particularly focused on Rx for Art Play, a program in partnership with local pediatric clinics that “prescribe” Art Play to all children and caregivers at their annual wellness visits. Partnered clinics predominantly serve low-to-moderate income families and empower families to integrate literacy-based Art Play into their daily lives. Families enrolled in Rx for Art Play receive a free one-year NCM family membership along with other benefits.
Ideal candidates for the Access Program Coordinator position are bilingual in English and Spanish and have a passion for community engagement. Experience working with diverse communities and program development and implementation is ideal.
Qualified candidates must be highly organized, able to coordinate multiple projects at once, and communicate in a clear and professional manner both internally and with visitors, participants, partner organizations and communities of diverse backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
â Work in partnership with the Manager, Creative Community Advocacy to develop, lead and implement the Rx for Art Play program.
â Work in partnership with Manager, Creative Community Advocacy to determine how to best support and build relationships with families and partnered clinics enrolled in the Rx for Art Play program. This could include developing curriculum materials, facilitating workshops, direct outreach to community members enrolled in the program, and attending outreach events. Regular communication with partnered clinics required.
â Work in collaboration with Rx for Art Play program evaluator and across Museum departments, such as Membership and Development, on grant reporting needs for the program.
â Set up systems for receiving feedback, impact stories, and tracking data to evaluate Rx for Art Play program success.
â Coordinate outreach initiatives and attend outreach events to share resources with San Diego communities about our access and community programs such as Sensory Friendly Mornings, Museums for All and Mass Creativity.
â Assist with the Sensory Friendly Mornings hours and programming.
â Develop content related to community and access programs in conjunction with the Manager, Creative Community Advocacy. Special projects and support as assigned.
â Coordinate and oversee administrative and day-to-day aspects of Creative Community Advocacy programs, as needed.
â Other duties as needed to support Access and Community Programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
â Education and/or Experience:
o Education requirements can be substituted for additional experience.
o Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience in arts education, child development or related field is preferred.
o Minimum two years’ experience in community engagement, working with diverse audiences and demonstrated ability in program development.
o Minimum two years of related customer service experience and excellent customer service skills
· Excellent communication skills: Using both written and oral skills to engage diverse audiences. The employee must be able to verbally communicate in a concise manner. Must be an exceptional role model with a demonstrated ability to work with a team to accomplish goals in a supportive, collaborative, and empowering manner.
â Computer/Office Equipment Skills: Must be comfortable working in PC/Windows-based environments. Must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
â Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.
â Schedule: Part Time; 20/hours a week. Weekend (primarily Saturday’s) and evening hours as needed.
â Transportation: Reliable transportation as this role requires off-site travel.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
â Compensation: The pay rate is $23.36 per hour.
â Terms: This is a grant funded position for a 12-month duration. After the grant term, the extension of employment would be solely dependent on renewed grants to fund the position.

o 80 hours of sick time per year, 8 hours available to use immediately
o 3 floating personal days
The majority of work is performed in a museum environment with attendant noise level and requires observance of safe work practices, fire regulations, and avoidance of falls, trips, and similar office work hazards. Due to the nature of the position, weekend hours will be required.
