Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Triage Nurse to join our nursing team. The Triage Nurse will be responsible for assisting with clinical care for patients over the phone. Clinical care includes- managing live incoming triage phone calls, returning voicemail calls, and ensuring timely responses to patients. The triage nurse will also manage paperwork, documentation, and communication between the Patient / Pharmacy / Insurance payor / Providers each day.

Responsibilities
- Manage live incoming triage phone calls and return voicemail calls daily assisting with clinical care for patients.
- Make outbound phone calls about malignant pathology results daily as directed by a physician assistant or physician.
- Make outbound phone calls regarding benign results daily, within 24 hours (1 business day) of receiving the information from the physician assistant or physician.
- Manage and ensure timely response to all inquiries sent to the Triage inbox daily.
- Schedule wound check appointments as needed.
- Manage refill requests daily.
- Manage paperwork, documentation, and communication between the Patient / Pharmacy / Insurance payor / Providers each day.
- Act in compliance with operational standards, along with other department and company policies and practices.
- Assist with weekly inventory as needed.
- Immediately and respectfully respond to patient requests; report patient complaints to the Nursing Team – Supervisor or Director of Nursing and assist in resolving such complaints.
- Adhere to performance goals according to company policy for all Nursing Team employees.
- Assist with implementing guidelines and workflows for the department, focusing on continuous process improvement and waste elimination as approved by Nursing Department leadership.
- Assist with or conduct periodic staff meetings with clinical nursing team members.
- Attend Nursing Department meetings as requested.
- Maintain responsibility for compliance with blood borne pathogen regulations; assistance with the clinic policy and procedures; maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all supplies and medications.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Serve and protect our dermatology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements including all aspects of HIPAA regulations.
- Enhance the practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
- Other duties and tasks will be assigned as needed based on business need.
- Site-to-site travel is not an expectation of this position; however, this may be requested based on business need.
Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of patient care principles and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems and the ability to effectively utilize software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn New Dermatology Group, LTD policies and procedures.
- Evidence of excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of individuals including nurses, physicians/physician assistants, patients, and their families.
- Knowledge of and ability to use computers for entering appointment information.
- Ability to work under pressure in stressful environment and make decisions while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Friendly, confident, hard-working, and professional demeanor.
- A team player who is willing to be flexible and help whenever and wherever necessary.
- Ability to capture all necessary information for a patient phone call and enter it into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Accurately send prescriptions to the pharmacy at the provider's direction promptly.
- Knowledge of basic nurse triage practices and procedures.
Education/Experience
- Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program, with proof of graduation
- 2 years of progressive experience working in Dermatology or healthcare
